Abstract
David Johnston, who was born in 1789 in Bordeaux where he died in 1853, created the manufactory of fine earthenware of Bacalan. He was the mayor of Bordeaux and a strong supporter of the July monarchy (1830) as can be seen on many pieces of ceramics kept at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Bordeaux and at the National Museum in Sèvres.
