Abstract

Data processing and node management are key technologies in wireless sensor network (WSN) to reduce the number of transmission of sensor nodes, and hence minimize the overall power consumption, thus to improve the whole performance and emergency response speed of net system, especially in WSN for environment monitoring. This paper provides a method to process data and manage node in WSN for sea water quality monitoring. The method does simple data processing at the front-end of sensor node and only transmits the abnormal data to largely compress the source data. In order to process some data from the front-end, testing center of the back-end adopts the cluster analysis algorithm based on genetic algorithm. When the abnormal sea waters is discovered and determined, the detailed calculation and analysis would be done with the relative abnormal data of the sea waters. By this method dramatically decreases the quantity of transmission and processing, the energy consumption is also be decreased. Meanwhile, this method can effectively manage the network node and improve the response speed of the testing center to the abnormal situation.
