Abstract
This chapter examines the features of data gathering, data diffusion, and data dissemination. It explains the flow of sensor data using data gathering techniques that are combined and stored at the cluster head (CH) or base station using data management techniques. The chapter explores the data gathering process based on data diffusion and data dissemination techniques with their respective protocols. It describes the data combining process based on data fusion and data aggregation techniques with their respective protocols. The chapter discusses the properties and metrics of sensor network database and various types of queries used in sensor networks. It aims to elucidate data storage techniques based on External Storage, Internal Storage, and CH-Centric Storage (CH-CS) and gives their respective analysis. The chapter outlines the metrics used in data gathering and data management for sensor networks. It focuses on data gathering techniques in sensor networks, which save the node energy, increase the throughput rate, and increase the network life cycle.
