Abstract

A necessary condition for transverse phase space damping in the optical stochastic cooling (also applicable in the microwave stochastic cooling) with transit-time method for both the longitudinal and transverse damping dynamics is studied. An optimal laser focusing condition for laser-beam interaction in the correction undulator was also obtained. The required laser amplification power can be large for hadron colliders at very high energies.
