Abstract
This is an abridged excerpt from the Dam Safety Guidelines, Inspection and Maintenance of Dams, produced by Land and Water British Columbia, Inc., a corporation of the government of British Columbia. The excerpt discusses the difference between a visual dam inspection and formal dam inspections, explains what is involved in a dam safety inspection, and discusses what steps are involved in an inspection. Inspection of embankment dams, concrete dams, and appurtenant works are covered, and a downstream consequence classification guide is listed.
