Abstract
It is the Author's view that obesity, atherosclerosis and diabetes mellitus represent complications of a disturbance in the feedback control systems involved in the area of carbohydrate metabolism. Inappropriate insulin secretion causes counter regulatory release of growth hormone and the catecholamines, noradrenaline and epinephrine. Resulting is a disturbance in fat metabolism and hyperlipemia. Over the span of a lifetime these disturbances result in increasing frequency of diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis with the aging process. The cybernetics of this derangement is discussed.
