Abstract

This chapter throws light on the broader area of business and other industries impacted by cyber-attacks. Cyber-attack is not new for the industrial sector; from time to time it can be glimpsed, but cyber-attackers are trying to dominate in every field. Cyber-attack is a kind of fraud. Its impact was only mild in the twentieth century, so governments have not acted and industries, including information technology departments, have not taken the appropriate security steps. Observations can be noted by different departments, and after analyzing the impact level, they can take various measures. Healthcare, government, military, financial, entertainment, and business sectors are being hit in the form of theft of personal or other sensitive data, erasing and selling of data, financial losses, and changing the mindset of people. Sometimes cyber-attack has wider ranging impacts, like misinformation, national security leaks, electoral result deviations, and industrial content leaks. This has all increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in increased awareness among people, governments, and industries. This chapter delves into cyber threats, their types, and their impacts on industries, and it will be very helpful in determining a broader impact analysis of the threat.
