Abstract
The output characteristics of a pair of identical antireflection-coated semiconductor lasers placed in a common cavity have been investigated. While in one propagating direction the usual power-current curves were measured, in the opposite one power saturation takes place. The experimental findings are in good agreement with a one-dimensional model for the longitudinal photon and carrier distributions.
