Customer Typology on the Travel Market
The aim of this article is to create a customer typology on the travel market in the Czech Republic according to what way of travelling abroad consumers prefer. Quantitative research was used for conducting primary data, which were obtained through an online questionnaire survey in February 2022. The researched population consisted of residents of the Czech Republic, who are over 15 years old and travel abroad on holiday at least once a year (before Covid-19 pandemics). A total of 579 respondents completed the survey, from which 399 respondents travel abroad on holiday, remaining 180 interviewed people were excluded from the research as they do not travel abroad. All data were analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics program. Respondents expressed their agreement with a total of 14 statements depending on if they prefer individual or organised way of travelling abroad on holiday. Based on how they evaluated these statements they were divided into several segments, according to their common characteristics, using factor and cluster analysis. Four segments were defined for individual travel market: “Trendy travellers“, „Adventurers“, „Easy- going travellers“ and „Open-minded travellers“ and also four segments for the organised travel market: “Influenceable travellers“, „Indifferent travellers“, „Conservative travellers“ and „Loyal travellers“.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on people’s lives worldwide, causing stress and anxiety for many people, including pregnant women. In addition do not knowing the implications of the new disease, pregnant women may also be negatively impacted by public health actions, such as limitations for accompanying persons to participate in childbirth and overall social distancing. The main objective of the research is to compare childbirth among women who gave birth during the COVID-19 pandemic with a control group. The data was collected using a questionnaire for Assessing the Childbirth Experience. 537 women who gave birth in 2019 and 2020 were included in the research and divided into two groups based on whether they gave birth before or after the state of emergency was declared in Latvia on March 12, 2020. The data was analysed using the IBM SPSS statistics program. The results showed that the childbirth experience for women giving birth without an accompanying person was statistically inferior on several accounts (process control, level of fear, breastfeeding support, etc.) than for women who had an accompanying person participating. In the research group there were proportionally more such women than in the control group, showing that COVID-19 has negatively impacted childbirth experience for many women.

During the recent global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are voluntarily or compulsorily required to stay at home and even work from home for several long and laborious periods. This is likely to happen in the future. Hence, a concern about the quality of living places has arisen, particularly in semi-open spaces, drawing more attention from users. This paper aims to measure the role, function, and influence of the balcony as a semi-open space in apartment living during the lockdown, by considering contributing factors in the function of balconies, including size, view, orientation, safety, and proximity together with residents’ preferences about balconies in two case studies with distinct approaches to balcony design. To achieve this aim, a questionnaire survey has been conducted and 322 residents in Tavus Tower and Mehr Housing Project located in Bandar-Anzali, Iran, participated. Based on collected data, the behavioural and functional performance of balconies and residents’ preferences were analysed by the IBM SPSS Statistics program. Results revealed that a high percentage of dwellers asserted the importance of having a decent balcony in an apartment and its far-reaching impact on boosting mental health and tolerating the prolonged pandemic. Also, the higher ratio of the area of a balcony to the floor area of an apartment, nature view from balcony, close proximity to the living room, and a higher sense of safety from balcony’s components can be regarded by architects to enhance the time of using balconies and the satisfaction of apartment users in Iran.

This research explores which crisis management strategies wer adopted by small and medium-sized companies in the Romanian media industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study aims to analyze how these companies adapted to the crisis by implementing strategic models, digital transformation, cost reduction and diversification of revenue sources. A quantitative research method was used by applying a structured questionnaire distributed to 341 media companies, obtaining 273 valid responses. The data was processed and analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics program and multiple regression analyses were also performed to identify the factors that influenced the level of impact on the companies. The results show that most companies relied on cost reduction measures, business model innovation (introduction of subscriptions and digital services) and the implementation of hybrid work to cope with the crisis. The decline in general revenues and advertising revenues significantly increased the perception of the impact of the crisis, while investments in digitalization contributed to diminishing the negative effects. The study confirms the relevance of using strategic models such as Porter’s Five Forces and Blue Ocean Strategy in increasing organizational resilience. The paper brings original contributions on the adaptation strategies used by Romanian media companies, providing empirical evidence in a context insufficiently investigated in the international literature. It highlights the importance of agility, technological investments and strategic diversification in strengthening organizational resilience. The results provide valuable recommendations for media companies that want to improve their preparedness for future crises, emphasizing the need for digital innovation, revenue diversification and proactive crisis management strategies.

The South African Minibus Taxi industry has had to various degrees been affected by government intervention, in micro, and macroeconomic forms. Transporting on average 11.9% and 15% of education trips and 26.88% and 26.18% of working trips between 2003 and 2013 respectively, the minibus sector dominates the market second to walking (Statistics South Africa, 2014; 2003). Recent transport policies seem to discourage the dominance of private cars and minibus vehicles. Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry has developed an incentive package for the production of minibus vehicles. In the microeconomy, transportation policy makers tend to focus on the travel market, whilst manufacturers focus on the demand for minibus vehicles. This study proposes and tests a framework to explore the extent to which travel and production microeconomic indicators relate to dynamic macroeconomic activity over time. This paper is an experimental exploration of statistical relationships between selected macroeconomic indicators (SMIs) and the national minibus economy measured in vehicle sales and prices. Sales data is sourced from the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) and price data from a manufacture dominating the market. Firstly, are there statistically significant macroeconomic forces at play in the minibus economy? Secondly, do these SMIs relate to minibus sales data including sales price per seat, registered vehicle population, vehicle sales, market ejections per year and cumulative forms of this data? We investigate this through correlation (a) analysis of price data, (b) sales data, (c) vehicle population in the travel market and (d) SMI data between 2002 and 2011. This is a mesoeconomic study, bridging the policy gap between macroeconomics (i.e. CPI) and microeconomics (i.e. vehicle population in the travel market). Statistically significant relationships and path dependencies are revealed within the framework developed. Therefore mesoeconomic research in the transport economic sphere is significantly viable. One shortfall of the paper is that the microeconomic analysis is narrow because travel data and vehicle utilisation data is not included. Further quantitative research is required to inform a policy agenda that enables an understanding of macroeconomic forces (national and regional level) that filter through transport economic policy. This study lays a unique avenue to equip transit and automotive decision makers, industries and planners to better forge through changes in the macroeconomy in microeconomic contexts.

The research aims to identify the fundamental approaches of different groups of regions to investing in innovation and improving environmental security to achieve sustainable development goals. We used Ward’s Hierarchical Clustering method to classify the regions performed in the IBM SPSS Statistics program. We obtained the data for the study of 58 Russian regions from the database of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, n.d.). Besides, we selected the following indicators: (1) the share of organizations that implemented innovations increasing ecological security in the production of goods, works, and services (in six areas); (2) the share of organizations that implemented organizational innovations; (3) the cost of technological innovation of organizations; (3) special costs associated with ecological innovations; and (4) the volume of innovative goods, works, and services. The research results showed that the regions were grouped into five clusters. Each cluster has its particular approach to solving ecological security issues, considering (1) the level of activity of organizations in the ecological field of the region; and (2) innovative investment costs in certain areas of reducing the negative impact on the environment. It is necessary to conduct a comparative analysis of the regions within each cluster to (1) disclose the regional policy of ecological regulation, (2) determine the level of development of innovative projects, (3) compare the level of implementation of ecological and technological innovations in industries with associated costs, and (4) identify the presence of monotowns in the regions. This analysis will allow us to identify the obstacles to implementing sustainable strategies in the regions and assess the innovation processes in the region in terms of the cost effect.

Introduction. International migration is a global process that has affected the populations of all countries and continents. Today, there is a new additional barrier for the world economy and for migrants – the COVID-19 pandemic, which has dramatically affected all forms of human mobility. The pandemic is the crisis of today and is the main problem of international migrants in combination with its consequences: threat to human life, global economic decline, declining migration flows, the crisis of medicine; and governments face additional challenges: finding solutions to compensate economic recession. In addition, international migration processes during the COVID-19 crisis are characterized by the following features: weak demand for labor, declining employment; strict travel restrictions; declining income. In addition to migrant-workers, other categories of international migrants, such as refugees and asylum seekers face problems. Wars, cataclysms, natural disasters and other catastrophes happen, but due to the pandemic, the recipient countries have stopped accepting migrants. This situation creates an economic threat to both migrant donor countries and migrant recipient countries and changes the regional structure of migration flows. Methods. The methodological basis of the study is a set of fundamental provisions of crisis theory, international migration theory, the world systems theory of migration, as well as modern concepts of post pandemic development. The solution of the set tasks was carried out by using a set of general scientific research methods: analysis of scientific literature, method of analogy and comparison, theoretical synthesis, classification, methodological generalization, economic and statistical analysis: correlation-regression analysis and the corresponding regression model, cluster analysis; expert assessments and scientific abstraction. The purpose of research – is to analyze the COVID-19 impact assessment on the recipients of international migration flows and define the impact of the pandemic on the regional structure of international migration flows.Results. The research proved that the consequence of the pandemic is a large-scale and radical blow to the global economy. In research defined the Corona Crisis concept in the theory of world crises. In research discover the COVID-19 impact assessment on the recipients of international migration flows. The research result suggests that the volume of international migration flows has a significant impact on the economy of the host country, but other factors influencing the change in GDP should be taken into account, that is fully explained by preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic and recipient country. In research defined the impact of the pandemic on the regional structure of international migration flows. Cluster analysis of the world regions classification by the volume of international migrants and the trend of their growth during the pandemic showed such results: clusters are distinguished by common features – the number of international migrants in the region in 2020 and trends of growth/decline of their volumes, which occurred during 2019-2020.Prospects. The results of the research discover the COVID-19 impact assessment on the recipients of international migration flows and define the impact of the pandemic on the regional structure of international migration flows. The prospect of further research is to apply the impact of the pandemic on the regional structure of international migration flows for the development of domestic migration policy.
