Abstract

Current-driven breakdown of integer and fractional quantum Hall effects are studied in a wide range of magnetic fields up to 43T using a He 3 refrigerator. Abrupt increase of magnetoresistance above a critical current was found at fractional filling in a similar manner to the breakdown phenomena at integer fillings. Magnetic field dependence of the critical electric fields of the breakdown is discussed in terms of the composite Fermion picture.
