Abstract

By using a CuInS2×Se2(1-x)-doped glass as an intracavity saturable absorber, passive mode-locking of a Nd:YAG and Nd:YAlO3 lasers is obtained. Ultrashort pulses of 16 ps duration with 20 mJ of energy (for YAIO3 at 1.08 mm), and 36 ps duration with 45 mJ of energy (for YAG at 1.064 mm) are achieved, respectively. The bleaching relaxation time of CuInSSe-doped glass saturable absorber is found to be c 11 ps. The optical damage threshold for CuInSSe-doped glasses estimated from the intensity dependent transmittance measurement with the use of laser pulses of 15 ps duration, was c 20 GW/cm2.
