Abstract

In cold climates icing of overhead power-line conductors can be a major problem, and in warm climates the thermal limit of the conductor may be exceeded. A crystal-oscillator system is described here that remotely senses the conductor temperature and communicates it back to a control centre via the p.l.c. system.
