Abstract
Abstract γ-Guanidino-β-hydroxypropane sulfonic acid C4H11O4N3S crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c, with four formula units in a unit cell of dimensions, a=7.44, b=9.89, c=11.11 Å and β=97.75°. The crystal structure was determined by the heavy atom method and refined by block-diagonal least-squares to an R-value of 0.12 using intensity data collected photographically. The molecule takes the zwitterionic form, (NH2)2+CNH-CH2CH(OH)CH2SO3−. The skeletal conformation of the molecule is planar trans zigzag. The molecules are held together in the crystal by a three-dimensional network of NH···O and OH···O hydrogen bonds.
