Abstract

Although alarming for the patient, hemolacria is often harmless and self-resolving. Investigations and management must be streamlined according to the symptoms and the presence of any systemic disease. A psychiatric evaluation may be required in patients to rule out psychological causes. No definitive cause can be found in many cases. We evaluated a 10-year-old child with hemolacria. No organic cause was found. A psychiatric evaluation revealed attention-seeking behavior during the prolonged COVID-19 lockdown. The frequency of similar episodes reduced after counseling and we conjectured that psychiatric counseling helped reduce the symptoms in this case.
