Abstract

Polyacrylamide gel electrophoretic studies were conducted with seed protein extracts of four species of Senna and a simple-leafed accession. The observed protein bands revealed some measure of biogenetic relationship among the species, through insufficient as a diagnostic aid at infra-generic level. The bands, however, appear useful at the generic level and above. The sectional distinction achieved by the protein profile is noted. Key words: electrophoresis, Senna, systematics, seed protein Ife Journal of Science Vol. 7(1) 2005: 59-62
