Abstract

ABSTRACT The processes of technology development and transfer are affected by numerous barriers that hinder the efficient implementation of innovations into the economy. The paper is focused on a selected type of barriers of a technical character that are observed on the operational (intra-organisational) and tactical (inter-organisational) levels. The main objective of the paper is to identify and analyse a technical barrier related to the changing technical requirements in the course of innovation development. Against the state of the art analysis, the main technology transfer barrier discussed in the paper is illustrated with case studies presenting real barriers encountered in practice in a selected domain of optomechatronics and the successful limitation of their impact on innovation development and implementation processes. The barriers were identified by the authors in their many-year involvement in innovation development and the implementation of innovative research results in economic practice in the field of machine construction and maintenance carried out by an R&D organisation.
