Abstract
The elastic scattering cross-sections for α particles from nitrogen at a scattering angle of 83.6° were measured in the energy range of 2.0–5.4MeV, and the nitrogen recoil cross-sections at a recoil angle of 40° were derived from the scattering cross-sections. Simultaneous measurements of scattering cross-sections at a scattering angle of 165° were also performed to validate the measurements. The obtained recoil cross-section data are essential for the quantitative examination of nitrogen through time-of-flight elastic recoil detection analysis with He beams.
