Abstract

Pollinations of diploid Trifolium nigrescent Viv. with pollen from diploid and tetraploid plants of Trifolium occidentale D. Coombe resulted in a seed set per floret of zero and 0.48, respectively. Pollen titibes from both sources of pollen penetrated the styles of the pistillate parent and reached the vicinity of the ovules.
