Abstract

This overview is inspired by the pioneering works by Eremenko et al. on the first observed similarities in the low-temperature phase formation of conventional antiferromagnets and superconductors near the critical temperature of the transition. In the development of the detected similarities, a comparison was made of the temperature dependence of the magnetic and structural properties of new anisotropic superconductors and antiferromagnets with competing order parameters (multiferroics). Common features in their critical behavior near the ordering temperature Tc are discussed.
