Abstract
This paper discusses an interesting application of adaptive filter, which is to create 'zone of silence' condition. In this research, 'zone of silence' condition is achieved by utilising adaptive filter with least mean square (LMS) algorithm for the filter adaptation. The adaptive filter will generate cancelling signal to suppress noise in the vicinity of target area, thus creating 'zone of silence' condition. A model for the filter has been proposed and simulated using LabView software. The results show that the model is able to cancel average noise signal power by 31,000 times.
