Abstract

(CO) 5CrP(t-butyl)Cl 2 reacts with Na 2Cr 2(CO) 10 to give the phosphinidene compound t-BuP[Cr(CO) 5] 2 (I). The deep blue complex I contains a trigonally planar coordinated phosphorus atom with Cr ▪P 230 pm and PC 190 pm. The intense colour disappears on treatment with Lewis bases under formation of 1/1 adducts. The 31P NMR shift (1362 ppm) of I is well outside the documented range.
