Abstract

AbstractElastic multibody systems are widely used as description of mechanical systems that consist of separable components. These components are represented by elastic bodies that interact by the means of force and damping elements as well as boundary conditions. The description of the elasticity is usually provided by a linear finite‐element model. If the bodies are densely meshed, a large system of differential equations is obtained. The numerical effort can be reduced by model order reduction. This contribution presents reduction approaches that are especially well suited for the elastic multibody system framework.
