Abstract

Corrosion test of Mo in LiF-LiCl-LiBr salt with different SO42 content have been studied. MoO2, Mo3S4 and MoS2 was formed after corrosion. The SO42- will corrode the grain boundary of Mo and lead to the decomposition of large Mo grain. Moreover, the formation of different corrosion products will lead to significant changes in volume and destroy the stable oxide layer which could be protective. The Mo will be severely corroded in LiF-LiCl-LiBr molten salt with a higher content of SO42-.
