Abstract

The newly developed correlation method makes it possible to measure the velocity of ultrasound in moving flexible sheet materials in the presence of intense acoustic noise. A high measurement accuracy is achieved through the use of a noisy ultrasonic signal with a large base length. The method is practical for continuous testing of the mechanical properties of sheet materials under industrial conditions.
