Abstract

The values of the first formation constant are reported for some substituted bis(1,10-phenanthroline)Cu I complexes in dimethylsulfoxide. The formation constant increses along the series 5 Cl phen < phen < 5,6 diCH 3 phen < 3,4,7,8 tetraCH 3 phen. A lineal correlation is found between formation constant or acidity constant of the substituted phenanthroline with the vibration frequency of the CuN bond.
