Abstract
The E1 and E3 transition rates from ground to excited states with Kpi =0- and 1-, and between excited states are calculated within the quasiparticle-phonon nuclear model in several doubly even well-deformed nuclei. The correlation between E1 and E3 transition strengths is observed. The calculated summed B(E1) strength (Ex<or=4 MeV) for the Kpi =0- levels is three times as large as for the Kpi =1- levels. We show that the fragmentation of the one-phonon states above 2.5 MeV strongly affects the E1 strength distribution.
