Abstract

On pp. 2f. of vol. XXX of this journal I attributed to Louis MacNeice a mistranslation of Aeschylus, Agamemnon 206f. I am ashamed to say that I made the mistake of trusting old notes without the one last check which would have prevented injustice. The mistranslation was in fact perpetrated by Philip Vellacott in the Penguin Oresteia (1956); MacNeice is blameless.
