Abstract

Surgical Principles The antero-posteriorly flat Achilles tendon is longitudinally sectioned in a coronal plane. Proximally the longitudinally split tendon is severed posteriorly and distally, the tendon is cut anteriorly. During the manual correction of the pes equinus both parts of the tendon slide against each other leaving a sufficient overlap of the divided surfaces. We published this technique first in 1982 [1].
