Abstract

The Common Project Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) is a middle-ware specification for the development of interoperable, distributed object systems. Object technology is of extreme importance in complex control system development besides its progressive use in other types of real-time systems. This paper tries to provide a general overview of the topics in distributed object systems, focusing on CORBA aspects that are critical for control systems engineering. Some sample applications are presented.
