Abstract

Copy-move forgery is one of the widely used forgery technique to alter digital image to conceal its originality. To testify the originality of an image, many detection techniques have been proposed and it is a very popular research field these days. Here we have presented a detection method based on discrete cosine transform (DCT) using lexicographical sorting. This is a block based copy-move forgery detection technique. In this method, initially the image is divided into 8×8 overlapping sub-blocks. Then we apply DCT on each sub-block to get the DCT coefficients of the corresponding blocks. Now to reduce the dimensionality of the DCT coefficients we take DCT coefficients in zig-zag manner according to their frequency property. These DCT coefficients are considered as the eigenvectors and the distance is calculated between the eigen vectors to get the matching blocks. In experimental results it can be seen that the detection ability is maintained and false matching ratio is reduced.
