Abstract

AbstractThe complex formation from Cu(II) ion and 2-(2-Hydroxyethylamino)-2-(hyroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol(Monotris) in aqueous solution has been studied potentiometrically and spectrophotometrically. In the monotris (L) complex CuL2 + , two of hydroxyl group oxygen atoms as well as amine nitrogen of ligand are coordinated. In basic media, additional hydroxyl group undergoes deprotonation. The equilibrium constants for the formation of CuL2 + , CuLH\(_{\rm -1}^{\rm +}\), CuLH− 2 have been determined.KeywordsPotentiometric and spectrophotometric methodsFormation constantsDeprotonated complex
