Abstract
Reaction products of 9-methyladenine (mAde) with [Pt(dien)Cl]Cl and cis-Pt(NH 3) 2Cl 2 have been separated using CM-Sephadex C25 cation exchange chromatography. NMR and UV characteristics are presented; the platinum binding sites were established by studying the pH dependence of the 1H-NMR chemical shifts and of UV difference absorption. It is shown that the N 1 atom of the ligand can be protonated in Pt(mAde- N7) adducts, while the N7 atom can be protonated in Pt(mAde- N1).
