Abstract

In this paper, we will propose and discuss an architecture with workflow services that are managed by conversational bots that enable seamless and smart travel experience for travelers. Conversational bots are modern chat messengers where the computer is trained to learn and respond to human queries using Natural Language Processing (NLP) for various languages and advanced machine learning algorithms. We propose an architecture that integrates various services using conversational bots into the travel workflow that consists of search, booking, travel documents processing like visa, immigration, checking in, onboarding and helping to provide destination services like cab booking, hotels, and events. Workflow typically maintains state, context, performers, and tasks. Conversational bots can easily integrate the input and output to such workflows through an orchestration layer that manages the business logic, context variables and enable activities for both human and conversation bot to complete a goal or task. We also built a prototype using IBM Watson platform to provide an illustration of the architecture services.
