Abstract

Natural objects often contain a porosity structure that causes structural weakening of printed objects from the mesh computed from their CT images. We introduce a method for creating topologically simplified models from CT images of natural objects by filling the cavity structure. Our method uses mathematical morphology for removing excess cavities. We use the result for partial polygonization of the scanned images. In this research, we demonstrate several examples of natural objects.
