Abstract

Stray current is found flowing in the earth as the result of the operation of both intentionally and unintentionally grounded d-c systems. The most common offenders are street railways and electric railroads. Frequently difficulties are also caused by manufacturing plants and other d-c power users. The operation of a d-c traction system illustrates the basic principles involved.
