Abstract

: This article illustrates how short contemporary literary texts dealing with social, historical, cultural, or political issues can be applied to the development of business language proficiency and cross-cultural awareness within an international business curriculum. Literature portrays a specific culture and is a rich source of information from which the learner extracts knowledge. This interdisciplinary approach to Business Spanish instruction offers the students the opportunity to master a language and a culture within an international business context.
