Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze media consumption, based on the time distributed by students of three degrees from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP). Having as objective to identify the preferences in media consumption allows to make didactic decisions according to its context and reality, intriguing in a functional way the digital technology. Considering data related to their family environment and academic performance, in order to identify characteristics that help to better understand the media ecosystem in which they operate, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. For 41.67% of the students, television is not in the media landscape, for videos and movies 45% allocate between one and two hours a day, social networks also present the same time as the previous form of consumption for 33.33% of the students, but with a slight deviation towards the range of three to four hours. Internet browsing requires between two and three hours a day for 30% of the community. The reading of books reports less than half an hour in 33.33% of the students. Finally, the average daily time is two to three hours for study activities.
