Abstract

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is an independent Federal Regulatory Agency in the United States. The CPSC's mission is to preserve lives and keep families safe by lowering the unnecessarily high risk of injury and death caused by consumer products and achieving its goal of becoming the world's established leader in consumer product safety. The main activities of the CPSC are to protect the public from consumer products that pose an unreasonably high risk of injury through rulemaking, safety education, communication, publication of guidance materials and manuals, inspection, sampling, and corrective action plans. The CPSC's activities are briefly discussed in this chapter.
