Abstract

The purpose of this note is to present a constant velocity combustion parametric cycle analysis for the non-ideal mass flow rate scramjet as opposed to the ideal mass flow rate scramjet analysis. By non-ideal mass flow rate is meant that the mass flow rate of air plus the mass flow rate of fuel is not approximately equal to the mass flow rate of the air alone, ṁo+ṁf≠ṁo; whereas, for the ideal mass flow rate analyses it is assumed that ṁo+ṁf≈ṁo. The non-ideal mass flow rate modeling is more realistic than the ideal mass flow rate modeling. This work permits the description of the non-ideal mass flow rate scramjet via simple algebraic equations similar to the well documented parametric cycle analysis for the non-ideal mass flow rate ramjet; however, this work is for the non-ideal mass flow rate constant velocity combustion scramjet which has not appeared in the existing literature.
