Abstract

It is important to know surgical anatomy of occipital condyles for various cranial base approaches specially extreme lateral transcondylar approach. The aim of this study was to investigate the anatomy of occipital condyles and their morphometric relations with surrounding structures on detaii and evaluate that whether sexual difference was present. This study was carried out with 83 dry adult human skulls (51 male, 15 female and 17 unknown). The mean length, width and thickness of occipital condyles were 24,4±2,5 mm, 12,7±1,7 mm and 9,0±1,3 mm respectively.
