Abstract

We have reported the electrical conductivity and theconductivity relaxation in fluoride glasses in the system40ZrF4-20BaF2-10YF3-(30-x)LiF-xNaF;0⩽x⩽30. We have observed a mixed mobile ioneffect in these mixed alkali fluoride glasses. Using modulus formalism we have shown that the conductivity relaxation alsoexhibits the mixed mobile ion effect as does the dc conductivity. Wehave observed that the relaxation mechanism is independent oftemperature but dependent on the composition.
