Abstract

Two methods of preparation of mechanically oriented polyacetylene have been applied. The samples were heavily doped with iodine and the temperature dependence of their electrical conductivity was measured. It was concluded that the factors limiting the conductivity measured parallel and perpendicular to the stretching direction were the same. This observation suggests that these factors are related to intrafibrillar properties of polyacetylene samples. Some results of measurements of standard isotropic polyacetylene foils are included for comparison.
