Abstract

In this final chapter we have three main aims. First, we will analyse recent political and economic developments that have important implications for the CAP and have already led to a new package of reforms. Second, we will review the current situation of German agriculture and agricultural policy in the light of recent CAP reforms and the election of a new SPD–Green coalition government. Finally, we will reflect on developments in German agriculture and agricultural policy in the post-war period, and will highlight what we see as the main trends and distinctive features, before putting forward our analysis of how the current situation is likely to develop in the early twenty-first century.
