Abstract

The conclusion summarizes the principal arguments of the book and discusses the potentials and limitations of using the human rights systemic analytical model (HRSAM). It advances recommendations for addressing the problem of lack of freedom in La Oroya with regard to both short-term and long-term measures. Drawing on the reality of conflicted local responses to mining investments, as well as the micro, meso, and macro paradoxes an economic dependency on this industry entails, this chapter urges opening debate and deepening reflection on the challenge of finding consensus about the good living in the context of hybrid societies whose economies are strongly tied to the extractive sector.
