Abstract

The article deals with models of epistolary communication between Antanas Vaiciulaitis (1906–1922) and Alfonsas Nyka - Niliūnas and their correlations based on the two authors’ letters. The epistolary friendship, which began in 1948, lasted for almost a lifetime, except for a large span of silence (1964–1984) which is hard to explain. The letters between the two authors have become a cultural-literary institution capable of forming and influencing the literary process. The article aims to examine how official positions of the authors (Vaiciulaitis was the editor of Aidai and Nyka - Niliūnas worked in Literatūros lankai) reveal their attitude towards literary phenomena and how discussions about each other’s writings are replaced by an evaluation of literary processes. Keywords : Antanas Vaiciulaitis, Alfonsas Nyka - Niliūnas, Aidai, letters, literary experience, concerns. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15823/alc.2014.09
