Abstract

This chapter describes conceptual models for system sources (inputs) and partitioning (sinks) of hydrophilic, hydrophobic and volatile organic compounds for seedling-microbe-soil systems. Describes physicochemical properties of organic compounds with an emphasis on phenolic acids that may be useful in understanding and quantifying the behavior of individual organic compounds, actually molecules, in seedling-microbe-soil systems.
