Abstract

In this paper a patched grid method is employed in the computation of a flow field behind a two-ring flame holder. The zonal boundary is treated by law of flux conservation. The calculation is performed using a SIMPLE type algorithm in a boundary-fitted coordinate system with nonstaggered grid arrangement. A standard k-{epsilon} turbulence model is used. The effect of staggering the distance between the two rings on the flow pattern does not change the recirculation strength but does alter the flow pattern. The predicted streamlines, mean velocity, turbulence kinetic energy, and reverse mass flow rates are presented.
