Comprehensive nursing Intervention to improve the quality of life of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract

Objective To investigate the impact of the comprehensive nursing intervention in the psychological and quality of life of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),and provide the basis for further improving the quality of life,Methods 128 cases with COPD in our hospital from September 2008 to June 2010 in our hospital were selected.The patients were given comprehensive nursing interventions on the basis of conventional drug treatment,and the intervention effects were analyzed.Results The incidence of anxiety,depression,fear and other negative emotions were respectively 27 cases (42.19％),28 cases (43.75％) and 23 cases (35.94％) in the former patients,and after the intervention,the incidences were respectively 10 cases (15.63 ％),12 cases (18.75 ％) and 9 cases (14.06 ％ ).Chi-square test shows that the difference was statistically significant ( P ＜0.05) before and after the intervention.Physiological function,physiological functions,bodily pain,general health,vitality,social function and role emotional and mental health scores were 62.79±30.54,34.13±27.35,27.35±26.86,35.50±21.27,54.28±26.74,58.46±26.37,71.24±27.69 and 73.57±22.79 before the intervention,after the treatment,the quality of life scores were 67.47±30.15,42.85±20.62,85.40±26.86,42.84 ±21.53,62.46 ± 28.83,65.28± 27.03,78.24 ± 22.89 and 81.45 ± 20.46,and the quality of life of patients significandy improve after the intervention.Conclusions The comprehensive nursing intervention may improve lung function for the patients with COPD,and it can improve patients'psychological status and quality of life.
