Abstract

ABSTRACT: The detailed 1 Hand 13 C NMR assignments of the four known triterpenes 3 -hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid, 3-oxo-24-methylenecycloartan, 3-oxo-11 -hydroxy-20(29)lupen and 29-hydroxyfriedelin, isolated from threeBrazilian plants, were achieved by 1D and 2D techniques such as DEPT, HETCOR, HMQC, HMBC, COSY andNOESY. In the case of complex triterpenes, experiments such as HETCOR, HMQC, HMBC, COSYand NOESY allow the researcher to achieve unambiguousassignments for all hydrogen and carbons.Recent reports showed the results of the applicationof 1D and 2D NMR techniques for the identification ofthe structures and to determine the 1 Hand 13 CNMRassignments of some triterpenes of the series ursane, 1;2 artane, 3–8 lupane 9 and friedelane.
