Abstract

The aim of this work is to analyze the prosodic competence of bilingual university students of the Basque Country in two areas of the oral language: production and perception. Once collected and studied the data in the production of reading aloud, perception tests are used in order to know the prosodic group best valued in reading aloud, for this an experimental investigation has been carried out based on the more general characteristics of the prosodic groups. 101 bilingual young people took part in the study. They read news aloud for further phonetic analysis. The result of the data obtained with a Chi-square test in tonal peaks shows that gender is statistically significant. In the case of perception, mother tongue affects significantly in assessing stimuli that are manipulated.
